On September 4th, 2024 morning, pursuant to the Ministry of Education and Training's directive on organizing “Student Civic Orientation Week of 2024 - 2025 Academic Year in Teacher-training Institutions”, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (HCMUE) kicked off its own.
In attendance were Dr. Cao Anh Tuan, Vice President of the University; Dr. Lam Thanh Minh, Head of the Office of Political Education and Student Affairs; MA. Pham Chung Thuy, Deputy Head of the Office of Political Education and Student Affairs; Comrade Nguyen Vu Hoai An, Deputy Head of the Office of Political Education and Student Affairs and Secretary of the University Youth Union; along with representatives from various Departments and Units of the University, and freshmen students of the 50th class.
The annual Student Civic Orientation Week, as mandated by the Ministry of Education and Training, aims to enhance students' awareness of the line and policies of the Party, the laws and policies of the State, and the country's economic and political situation. For first-year students, the week is particularly crucial as it provides a comprehensive overview of their rights, responsibilities, and civic duties through the dissemination and education of laws, regulations, and guidelines in training and student affairs outlined by the Ministry and the University. It also provides insights into the University's 2024-2025 academic plan and its future development.
In the opening speech, Dr. Cao Anh Tuan extended his warm welcome to all freshmen, who had successfully passed the challenging exams to officially become students of HCMUE, participating in the Student Civic Orientation Week of the academic year 2024 – 2025.
Furthermore, Dr. Cao requested that during the Week, students should study hard and take comprehensive notes. Upon completion, they are required to submit detailed reports in earnest. Additionally, he urged all lecturers, functional offices, especially the Office of Political Education and Student Affairs, to organize a high-quality and impactful Student Civic Orientation Week.
At the Opening Session, Dr. Lam Thanh Minh presented an overview plan of the "Student Civic Week" for the academic year 2024-2025. Accordingly, there were 18 classes, taking place from September 4th to October 6th, 2024. Upon completion, students would submit a reflection on the University’s online learning platform (VLE). The results of the “Student Civic Week” would be used as a basis for evaluating students training performance in the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.
Student Civic Week is a concentrated period of activities and learning for all students. For the students of the 50th class, Student Civic Week offers a diverse range of activities to help freshmen acclimate to their new academic environment before their official coursework begins. The Organization Board hoped that freshmen would have a memorable experience as they met and got to know their new learning environment, lecturers, and classmates from diverse backgrounds, forming bonds that will last throughout their university years. This week also aimed to provide students with valuable knowledge and skills to prepare them for their future careers.
